From Fitbit to Google Health: A 10-Year Veteran’s Tale of Two-Fisted Smartwatches and the Pixel Watch 4 Tragedy

🚀 Google Health is Finally Firing on All Cylinders!

Google Health is finally going live! 🎉

Can you believe it’s already been five years since that heartbreaking Fitbit acquisition incident? The deal officially closed back on 2021-01-14 (US time).

Retrospectively, my Fitbit journey started six years before that, all the way back in 2015, when I first strapped a “Fitbit Charge HR” onto my wrist to kick off my Fitbit lifestyle. ⌚️✨

Around 2020, I even joined the community and had a blast connecting with fellow users… but then, the Google shadow started looming larger and larger.

They stripped away everything—the Workout Challenges, Fitbit Bingo, Adventure Races… everything was snatched from us! 😭

😡 If I Were a Certain Someone, I’d Buy Fitbit Back in a Heartbeat!

Hey Google, do you have any idea how much the community was cursing your name back then?

Probably not, since you’ve grown too massive to hear a tiny voice like mine!

If I were Elon Musk, I would’ve bought Fitbit back from Google without hesitating! 💸

But alas, I’m neither Elon Musk nor Shohei Ohtani. Just a regular citizen of Osaka, forced to sit back and watch Google do whatever it wants. Ugh, it’s so frustrating! 😫

Even recently, the community survived on a small scale just for catching up with friends. But guess what devices everyone was actually posting from?

Garmin, Samsung, Xiaomi… you name it! lol

The community platform belongs to Google, yet everyone is rocking third-party hardware! It’s honestly hilarious. 😂

⌚ My Fitbit Lineage and Uncompromising Loyalty

As for me, my wrist has been home to a whole dynasty:

Charge HR ➡ Alta HR ➡ Luxe ➡ Charge 6

I’ve walked through them all. Honestly, I was holding out for a Luxe successor, but since they clearly had no intention of making one, I reluctantly settled for the Charge 6. 💨

Because seriously, I don’t need built-in GPS, and I will literally never use contactless payments (Suica) in my life.

I absolutely detest paying for features I’ll never use! 😤

To make matters worse, they completely axed the altimeter feature that tracked floors climbed—something even the old Charge 4 could do!

🩺 The Unexpected Diagnosis That Changed My Setup

Then came 2024, when I was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation. That drove me to buy the famous Apple Watch 10! 🍎

Why? Because I desperately needed to monitor my ECG! 📈

Look, I admit the Apple Watch is a stellar piece of tech. I really do.

But here’s the kicker: what happens to the mountain of Fitbit data I’ve accumulated over the last decade?

I couldn’t just let ten years of my life data go to waste just for a newcomer. 😢

And that, my friends, is how it all began.

When Shohei Ohtani does it, a two-way style looks incredibly cool.

But in my case? My life became entirely ruled by devices on both wrists: an Apple Watch on my left, and a Charge 6 on my right—a heavy, square smartwatch and a slim-ish fitness tracker dominating my body! 🤖💦

🎉 Enter the Savior: The “Pixel Watch 4”?!

Finally, when the Pixel Watch 4 dropped last year (2025-10) with an ECG feature, I was ecstatic.

“This is it! This will finally consolidate my double-wristed lifestyle into a single Pixel Watch!” I rejoiced. ✨🙌

Well… that joy was incredibly short-lived.

But more on that tomorrow! 👋😊
